The Most Important Fish in the Sea
Along my travels to the Cove, I was taking pictures of the water, and couldn’t figure out why it looked like it was moving. So I went over there, and this is what I saw:
Yes. They are alive. They are all pooled in the water at this discharge pipe. These fish are called Atlantic Menhaden (or Bunker). We cannot eat them, but other animals do, for example, humpback whales. Apparently they gather here because of a treatment plan discharge pipe – read this:
