Playing with Your Food – Fun in the Kitchen
I don’t know about you, but I have this fascination for abstractions. The other night when I was making a small dinner, I was cutting up some veggies for a mashed potato recipe, when I looked down and saw this really cool starburst within my parsnip. Not one to miss an opportunity to photograph things I ran upstairs and grabbed my camera – then got to work (not cooking) but playing with my food.
I pulled out the mandolin and made a few slices of different veggies and put them to the side, then prepped my camera. Now, the kitchen was pretty dismal as far as lighting was concerned so I looked around and realized that the bay window would be a perfect backdrop for my veggies PLUS it would give them a nice backlight. Off I went to the window – but then realized I didn’t have a clue how to get them to stick. Then it hit me.
Lick them and mush them on the window.
Here are some of the images:
Pretty neat huh?
Anyway, I decided since I had the camera out and did need to eat at some point I’d go ahead and shoot the rest of the food:
That was one of the best recipes I have ever made – such a keeper!
