Ms. Mary-Abigail Porter

Dear Daughter,

I never expected you to come into existence.  For a while there we were lost and it took a long time to bring the ship back around.  With each passing day I find myself inspired by your presence – a need to create something magical for you, your own special place surrounded by things I love, that have been loved, that have been given in love.  A place for you to feel safe and secure, to learn and grow.  A place that will hold your first cries, your poopy diapers, your giggles, and your temper tantrums.  A place for you to be rocked, a song belted out to you, for me to cry when I’m overwhelmed and for you to cry right along with me when you are tired.  A place for two parents to look down on their child in wonder, for a brother to pick you up and tickle your tummy, for dogs who won’t be able to figure out what in the heck you are for the longest time.  A place to hold our laughter and one that you will for sure be artsy in…

We all can’t wait to meet you little girl.  I think the whole family and all of our friends are waiting with baited breath.  We thought you had my nose, but now we know for sure you have my lips – poor child.  Let’s just hope you have my magical sense of life and good nature – and not so much of all this family sarcasm that goes around (okay fine, you may have a little)….and I will be sending you to your brother to get your hair done, because I can hardly brush my own, much less style someone else’s hair.

Love you little girl.

To my clients and friends – We are having a sweet little girl around the 22nd of May – well, that’s when she’s due – she’ll pick her own day.  I’ll be closing shop around the 2nd weekend in May – to do final preparations on welcoming this sweet baby into our home.  I’ll be re-opening shop around the end of August – right in time for family portrait sessions 🙂  I cannot be more excited to see all of you once again.

Without further ado, here is the magical place I’ve created for my sweet girl, along with a list of places where the items came from  🙂

  • Katie - What a beautiful room!!! I cannot wait to see pictures of her in it! Rest easy these last few weeks!

P.S. I know you said you’re closing up shop in May, which I will totally respect. Brooks will have a birthday party sometime in late June and, if you have an itch to take photographs, he would be a most willing subject! I know you will have plenty of photo-taking opportunities at your house, but he would love to see you! Seriously, no pressure and no expectations. Just putting it out into the universe. 🙂ReplyCancel

    • mmporter - Hahaha 🙂 You know I’d love to see you all (and Mr. Brooks!) – I’ll just drag her along and we can do a not so professional shoot – make sure you send me an invite!!!ReplyCancel
